about me

Personal background

I was borne in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 26 April 1978 and grew up there.  My favourite sports were cycling and tennis.  I made the provincial cycling team, but had to quit after sustaining a serious injury to my knee in a race.

I matriculated in 1996 after which I started to study engineering at the University of Stellenbosch, but soon realised that my passion was art and that engineering would not be stimulating enough for me.  So after a year I moved back to Port Elizabeth to pursue my passion for fine art, which led me to the Port Elizabeth Technikon (now called Nelson Mandela University).

I graduated in 2001 (majoring in fine art photography and stained glass) and did a specialists year in 2002 focussing on photography.

In 2003 I moved to Cape Town and started my own business as a freelance photographer.

Education and training

I studied fine art at the Port Elizabeth Technikon, now called the Nelson Mandela University.

My highest qualification is a B Tech in Fine Art majoring in Photography.

Work ethic

As a fine artists I believe it is essential that my work be unique and fresh.  My aim is to capture the essence of the each moment in order to convey the feeling and emotions behind each photograph.  Everyone wants and needs something different that will appeal to their senses, and I try to discover what that is and to bring it out in what I do.
